1963 is a traditional jewellery business born in the early 60’s in Colombia. This business uses gold, silver, emeralds and diamonds to produced Pre-Columbian products inspired by daily life objects and nature. Now the owner’s children are inheriting the business and expanding to sell online.
Inheriting a legacy from one generation to other is an important aspect of this brand, communicating how the old nurture the new in a constant process. To find the concept for the visual identity, I was inspired by their main product called “A Person”, which is an abstraction of the human body. I drew over its legs and arms, and duplicated and rotated it to create a new basic figure (Outcome A). I again duplicated and rotated ‘Outcome A’, creating a new final shape that represents the union of a tribe working for a common aim.
I created a minimalistic brand that in a modern and elegant way is strongly connected to its indigenous roots. The use of the orange colour reflects the warm tropical weather of Colombia.
